Biography: Huang Geng was born on the 10th of July, 1970 in China. She is a veteran long jumper who has represented the People’s Republic of China and won many medals in international events.
Huang Geng won her first medal in a major international competition at the 1990 Asian Games held in Beijing. She finished second in the long jump event and won the silver medal. Two years later, she took part in the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Spain, and finished in 8th place. In 1994, she won her first Asian Games gold medal in Hiroshima, Japan. The following year, she took part in the World Indoor Championships in Barcelona, Spain, and the 1995 World Championships in Gothenburg, Sweden, and she placed 8th and 7th respectively. In the 1995 Jakarta Asian Championships, she took first place and won a gold medal with a jump of 8.26m, which was a new Chinese record. She qualified for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Georgia, and finished in the 8th position. In the year 1997, she participated in the East Asian Games in Busan, Korea, and won a silver medal. Huang Geng’s personal best record is 8.38 meters, which was set in May 1995 in Taiyuan. Besides international events, she has participated and won medals in many domestic competitions as well.
