Biography: Li Shaojie was born on the 26th of November, 1975 in China. He is an experienced discus thrower who has represented his country in many international events. He has won several medals in major athletics competitions and he is considered one of the best discus throwers from China.
One of the highlights of Li Shaojie’s career in athletics is his gold-winning performance at the 12th Asian Championships which was held in Fukuoka, Japan. In this event, Dashdendev Makhashri from Mongolia and Ajit Bhaduria from India were the main competitors of Li Shaojie. However, he managed to overcome them to win the gold medal. In the year 1998, Li Shaojie won a gold medal at the Asian Games which was held in Bangkok, Thailand. He defeated Anil Kumar from India and Zhang Cunbiao from China with a throw of 64.58m. Li was selected to represent Asia in the 1998 World Cup, where he finished 7th in the discus throw event.
Li Shaojie was part of the Chinese contingent at the 2000 Sydney Olympics. He took part in the discus throw event, but he failed to win a medal for his country. In the year 1996, Li threw a personal best of 65.16m, which is also the present national record. Li Shaojie’s contribution to Chinese athletics has made him a popular figure in his homeland and he will continue to bring honour to his country with his great athletic ability.
