Best Results: Won the 2006 Asian Games, ranked 4th in the IAAF 2006 World Cup, won the silver medal at the 2002 World Junior Championships

Biography: Li Yanxi, a Chinese triple jumper, was born on June 26, 1984, in Shijiazhuang. He is the hope and pride of China in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. In the Chinese Olympic Trials which were held recently, Li Yanxi became the third Triple Jumper to qualify for the forthcoming Beijing Olympics. He won the Trials with a personal best of 17.20m.

Li Yanxi has been considered one of the best Chinese triple jumpers since he won at the 2002 World Junior Championships in Kingston. His performance at the 2005 Prefontaine Classic in Eugene in which he scored a 17.15m jump secured him a place as one of the best triple jumpers in the world.

Li Yanxi had competed in both the 2007 Osaka World Championships and the 2004 Athens Olympics, but he did not make the final rounds in both occasions. In the 2006 Asian Games, Li came up with a wonderful performance of 17.06m which secured him the gold medal.

At the national level, Li Yanxi performed remarkably at the 10th Chinese National Games with a jump of 16.95m, and he became the gold medallist of the event.

Li Yanxi has not lost any competition this season and he is working hard to create history in the 2008 Beijing Olympics. China is anxiously waiting to engrave his name in golden scripts both in their country’s history and also in the history of world sports.
